Architectural Coating

Every shop has limits. Here are ours, stated plainly, so you know before you send a drawing.
Larger or irregular parts can often still be run — call to confirm before shipping.
Heavier parts require special fixturing. We'll quote it if the geometry allows.
Standard production range is 2–4 mil. Heavy-build systems available for extreme exposure.
Low-temp powders available for heat-sensitive substrates and pre-assembled parts.
Media blasting, chemical pretreatment, or both — chosen per job, never skipped.

Powder coating is a simple process on paper. In practice, small details decide whether a finish lasts three years or fifteen. These are the things we do on every job, even when the customer never asked.

Incoming inspection
Every lot photographed and flagged for dents, rust, or weld defects before it enters the line. You get an honest report before we coat anything.

No spray-and-wipe shortcuts. Parts go through the full 7-stage line or get blasted — never both skipped.

Wet and cured thickness measured on every rack. Out-of-spec parts get recoated, not shipped.

Powder batch, oven log, operator initials, and QC sign-off recorded for every job. If something goes wrong, we can tell you exactly where.

Epoxy
Industrial equipment · Under-hood parts · Interior structural
Best-in-class chemical and corrosion resistance. Not UV-stable — chalk and fade in direct sun. Ideal for anything that lives indoors or under a hood.
Hybrid (Epoxy-Polyester)
Furniture · Shelving · Light industrial
The middle ground. Better UV stability than pure epoxy with most of the chemical resistance. The workhorse for interior architectural and furniture finishes.
TGIC Polyester
Exterior metal · Automotive · Agricultural
UV-stable, chip-resistant, and available in thousands of colors. The standard for anything that lives outdoors and needs to hold color.
PVDF (Kynar 500)
Curtain wall · Facade components · AAMA 2605 work
Premium architectural coating. Twenty-year color-retention warranty on qualifying systems. Required spec for most institutional facade projects.

you have to ask.
Do you have a minimum order?
No hard minimum. We'll run a single part if it needs coating. In practice, jobs under $150 typically aren't economical for the customer once setup, masking, and rack space are factored in — but we'll always quote honestly and tell you if it doesn't make sense.
Can you match a specific color?
Yes. We match to RAL, Pantone, Fed-STD-595, and physical samples. Standard matches pull from stock powder at no extra charge. Custom matches typically add 5–10 business days for powder delivery and a modest setup fee.
How do I get an accurate quote?
Send drawings or clear photos, quantities, substrate, and any finish spec you have (color, gloss level, mil thickness). If you don't know the spec, describe the application — we'll recommend one. Most quotes go out within one business day.
Do you handle shipping?
We ship via common carrier, LTL, or customer-arranged freight. Local delivery is available within 50 miles of Grand Rapids for a flat rate. Inbound and outbound handling is included in every quote.
What's the warranty on your finishes?
Standard production work is warranted against adhesion failure and premature coating defects for 12 months. Architectural AAMA 2605 work carries the manufacturer's 20-year color-retention warranty where applicable. If we got it wrong, we recoat it.
Can you coat over existing paint or powder?
Not reliably. Old coatings fail from the substrate up, and the new powder will follow them off. We strip existing finishes by blasting or burn-off before coating. It's slower and costs more, but it's the only way to guarantee the new finish.
